Kent’s newest estate agency is helping get people on the move – thanks to a fully equipped mobile sales unit.
The Property Market is a hybrid agency offering people the service of a high street agent from their mobile office, with the prices of online firms.
It is the brainchild of Neil Harvey, previously of David Clarke, who was one of the first local property experts for Purple Bricks. He has teamed up with Mark Jones, Sean Bray and Richard Smith, who between them have many years experience in estate agency.
Mark said: “I think people are starting to have doubts about online-only estate agents. They want a bit more than what is on offer – they want to be kept informed and they want to feel that someone is really working for them.
“We both have a passion for helping people sell their homes – it’s a wonderful feeling when a sale goes through and you know your customer can move on to the next stage in their life.
“For buyers too, that moment when they fall in love with a house is just magical, and thanks to our mobile sales unit there’s no need for delays. We can provide a fully equipped office right outside the property, so we can do all the paperwork on site.”
The pair believe there are two key aspects for a happy house move – price and communication.
Mark said: “If we can get a property on at the right price it could sell in four or five weeks. We are always honest with the vendor about the price and we keep them updated throughout the whole process, even if it’s to say there is no news.
“Spring is the perfect time of year to buy and sell houses and the market is really picking up now. There are a lot of out-of-town buyers and the beauty of the mobile sales unit is that we can meet them at the station and take them to viewings.
“It has wifi as well so they can view a property online before deciding if they want to see it in person.”
Properties are marketed online via RightMove and on social media, and packages for ‘traditional’ estate agency start at 0.75 per cent, compared to competitors’ 1.5 per cent. Alternative options include £199 upfront then 0.5 per cent of sale price, or £599 upfront.
The Property Market currently covers Whitstable, Herne Bay and Folkestone but there are plans to expand via a franchise model in future. Neil and Mark also hope to work with developers to use their mobile sales unit as a temporary on-site sales office for new builds, covering viewings and registering buyers.
