Three people have been injured and a section of the A2 closed in both directions following a crash today.

Kent Police are on the scene between the junction for the A260 at Denton and the A256 at Whitfield. Three vehicles were involved.

Traffic units, the  South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called at 11.56am.

Police are diverting traffic away from the scene.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: “Eastbound traffic is being diverted via the ‘Solid Circle’ symbol, exiting the A2 at Barham to the A260 southbound, travelling through Denton, Selsted and Densole to Hawkinge, then taking the Hawkinge Bypass, meeting the A20 at Whitehorse Hill and entering the coastbound A20, through Dover and meeting the A2 at Jubilee Way.

“Westbound traffic is being diverted via the ‘Solid Square’ diversion symbol, exiting the A2 at Whitfield roundabout onto the A256 Whitfield Hill, continuing to the London Road roundabout.

“From here, it should travel on London Road through Kearnsey to Lydden, exiting to Lydden Hill and travelling towards the A2, rejoining at Lydden Cross.”

Vehicles heading to the Port of Dover can use the A20 and M20 as an alternative.

Updates will follow.
