Man arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis

Cannabis is being talked about again

A man has been arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis after police raided a property in Herne Bay.

Officers from the Kent Police Divisional Support Unit executed a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address in The Broadway at just before 1pm yesterday (Tuesday).

They seized 46 mature cannabis plants.

A 28-year-old man from Herne Bay was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity.

He has been released pending further investigation.

Investigating officer PC Constable Gareth Foreman said: “Whilst we investigate this incident we would like to take the opportunity to urge people with information about illegal drugs in the district to come forward.

“There are often tell-tale signs of drug use and supply, which can include an increase in comings and goings at the address, strong smells of cannabis people loitering in the vicinity or short exchanges between people on the street.

“Every bit of information can help build a picture of drug supply and this enables us to carry out search warrants like this one.

“Anyone with information that could help our ongoing fight to disrupt people who are involved in the use of illegal drugs should call us.”

The numbers to call with information are 101 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
